About the role
You will work on the interfaces people use to run their businesses — a dispatcher assigning riders, a shop owner checking stock, a customer tracking a parcel. These are screens used for hours a day, so the bar for clarity and speed is higher than for a marketing site.
You will work directly with the developers building the APIs behind these screens, and with the operations teams at our clients who use them.
What you will do
- Build and maintain interfaces in React and Next.js against our own REST and GraphQL APIs
- Turn designs into responsive layouts that work on the devices our users actually have, which are mostly mid-range Android phones on mobile data
- Work on performance seriously — these are data-heavy screens and slow ones cost our clients real time
- Review other people’s code and have yours reviewed
- Talk to the people who use what you build
What we are looking for
- Solid React: components, hooks, state management, and an understanding of when re-renders happen and why
- Next.js in production — routing, rendering strategies, and the trade-offs between them
- Modern JavaScript and TypeScript
- HTML and CSS that you can write without a framework when you need to
- Git in a team, including reviewing others’ work
Nice to have
- Tailwind CSS
- Experience with offline-capable or low-connectivity applications
- Testing — component and end-to-end
