About the role
The rider app is the hardest thing we build. It runs all day on a mid-range Android phone, in and out of coverage, capturing scans, signatures, photographs and cash amounts — and none of it can be lost when the network drops.
What you will do
- Build and maintain React Native applications for delivery and field staff
- Implement offline-first data capture with reliable background sync
- Integrate device capabilities: camera, barcode scanning, GPS, local storage
- Optimise for battery life and for low-end devices
- Work with the backend team on sync and conflict resolution
What we are looking for
- React Native in production, shipped to a store
- Understanding of offline data and synchronisation
- Native Android knowledge for the parts React Native does not cover
- Experience testing on real low-end devices, not just simulators
